Mountain Gorillas At the heart of the war in the DRC sits Virunga National Park, home to the rare mountain gorillas. As rebels took over, the rangers protecting the gorillas were forced to leave them to an uncertain fate.
'Virunga is Africa's greatest national park,' states director Emmanuel. So when the massacre of 5 mountain gorillas was discovered and links were made to an illegal Charcoal trade there was international outcry. After 15 months Emmanuel returns, 'It's the first time I've been back since we found the bodies.' Yet a new census taken of the mountain gorillas unveils a remarkable discovery.
