Despair

Despair One in ten families in Ireland are no longer able to pay off their mortgages. Even with an EU bailout on the cards, the Irish people are still feeling the brunt of the property boom that went bust.

As the Prime Minister told Ireland that their banks were empty, protestors gathered calling for a change in Government, "They're very angry that the eyes of the international world are focused on our country at the moment for all the wrong reasons". With indications that the EU bailout will not help families, and coming at a cost of $7billion interest a year, one man says, "Now, we're a nation of beggars".
