Full Figure Fashion Week

Full Figure Fashion Week Look out, New York Fashion Week - just a few blocks away, there's a legion of real women with real curves, coming to kick your cadaverous ass. The traditional half-starved model has just enough force to make it down the runway and back. But the runway at Full-Figured Fashion Week is more vibrant than the Broadway stage. Even if a model trips and falls in her stilettos (something that would cause most skinny models to break down and cry) it's just a cue for a bit of floor-level hip-shaking.
This alternative fashion week isn't just about clothes, or body shape - but about respect, and feeling good. Among its highlights are a river cruise, and the most ecstatic fitness class ever. On a whirlwind trip through "queer-radical-sex-positivity", Charlet Duboc meets models, designers and campaigners, and the creators of The True Sheros - the world's first plus-size comic-book heroines. All are out to persuade her that "there's no wrong way to have a body," though Duboc's street surveys still reveal a strong size-zero mafia of women who can't stand the sight of all garments bigger than a size 14, and would prefer them confined to stockrooms and out-of-the-way stores. Will they ever be persuaded that "back fat is the new cleavage"?
