Avatars are digital representations of us in the virtual computer world. We already interact via avatars on computer games and you can even sit at home and meet your friends in virtual reality, complete with gestures and facial expressions. But can having an avatar change human behaviour? Graham Phillips travels to Stanford University in California where researchers are exploring how having a virtual experience can affect our health and behaviour, but also how it can mislead us into believing experiences that never really happened.
