Undercover in Zimbabwe
With the March elections disputed by both parties, the government is again returning to intimidation and violence as a tactic against its MDC opponents.
President Mugabe has vowed that 'things will never, ever change'. As the political tide turns against him, his government's tactics are becoming ever more brutal. 'The message from the authorities is "Be afraid"', a political activist says; 'they call [themselves] the Blood Party and they do mean it. They will use blood'. As the authorities round up and torture those who voted against Mugabe, the leader of the opposition escapes the country fearing execution. With the prices of staple items soaring and the shops empty, many Zimbabweans face starvation. Shot by journalists posing as tourists, this film provides a frightening glimpse of life inside Mugabe's crumbling regime.
