Superpill
Swallowing a tiny camera to find cancer
Cancer of the bowel is one of the world's biggest killers. It's hard to detect, but now finding cancer deep in the intestines is as simple as swallowing a camera.
Endoscopy is the normal way to look inside the gut - but they can't reach anywhere near 8 metres, the full length of the intestines. Now, a little pill with a camera and a light can examine the whole length, without pain. Developed in Israel, it is undergoing trials in London and New York, and is already saving lives.
