Massacre
The aftermath of the Rwandan genocide
The survivors of the massacre are left with machete wounds and the horrifying memories of what happened to their communities. Now, as the government forces are being pushed back to the capital, there is an atmosphere of reconciliation. The few opposition politicians who survived the slaughter have gathered around a table. Some are Hutus, some are Tutsi, but they believe putting aside ancient differences is the only way forward. "Maybe we have to put together all our different ideas to build the country", says Bonadventure Ubalijoro, leader of the opposition.
