According to a church edict, two or three eyewitnesses must independently verify each alleged incident of abuse. "Nobody would believe me without the two witnesses," states 'Julie'. As a young girl, she was regularly raped by a church elder. While repentant paedophiles are reinstated in the church community, victims who report the abuse are ostracised by the Church. "As far as they are concerned, it was my fault," confides victim James Kerr. "I hate them for that."
