Afar Angel
Afar, Ethopia, is one of the most desolate, poverty ridden places in the world. But to Australian nurse, Valerie Browning, it is home. We follow her work.
"In the whole Afar region we don't have one doctor." Being married to a village elder Valerie is in the unique position to educate villagers and challenge ingrained prejudices. In doing so she has learnt the meaning of poverty. "Poverty is not just a material low, it also brings a mental low. It's powerlessness." (SBS)
