United in Division
If civil war breaks out in Iraq, the oil rich city of Kirkuk is likely to be at the centre. Journalist Karzan Sherabayani returns to his home city to chart the bitter divisions.
Every day, the tensions on the street become more palpable. Last month's elections - fought on sectarian and ethnic lines - only heighten the tension. "We refuse any suggestion of federalism", explains a Sunni community leader. Having boycotted earlier elections, the Sunnis are now determined to prevent Iraq splintering into three provinces. They consider the Kurds traitors for collaborating with the Americans.
