A Model Police Force
China's ultra-efficient police force
A report on the Jinan traffic police, who are solving the city's traffic problem.
The traffic in China is a popular talking point, and many blame inefficient police officers for the constant choas. The city of Jinan however has taken a stand; it has created an efficient traffic police force to deal with the issue, armed with precise signing abilities and harsh punishments for road users who bend the rules. Officers on the force do make sacrifices, with many working seven days a week. However they are proud of their jobs, and are greatly appreciated by the city's population. It is thought that eventually technology will take over the force's role in keeping law and order on the city's streets, but a statue erected in the city honouring the force means their efforts will never be forgotten. ABC Australia reports from the city.
