Despite agreeing a cease-fire, the Karen are still regularly attacked by the Burmese military regime. They fear the junta wants to annihilate them completely.
In a village in the Karen states, fighters are preparing for war. Abandoned by the international community, they have vowed to fight on until the bitter end. "The junta are carrying out ethnic cleansing. They will do whatever to eliminate the whole race", fears Col Ner Dah Mya. Human rights campaigner Kevin Heppner agrees. "There is a systematic effort to starve people out of the hills."
