Rick's Cafe The spirit of Humphrey Bogart lives on at 'Rick's Cafe Americain' - a recreation of the bar made famous in 'Casablanca'. Like the bar in the film, it's inhabited by a mix of locals and mysterious expats.
More than sixty years after Bogart and Bergman made Casablanca famous, Rick's Cafe has come to life again. It was built in the wake of 9/11 by former US diplomat, Kathy Kriger. "I thought building 'Rick's Cafe' would be a very symbolic way of showing American values", she explains. Over and over again, the pianist plays 'As Time Goes By' evoking the mood of the film.
