Winning the Swing States
"It's a war we should have never ever been in", states one man. In key swing states like Pennsylvania, sentiments like this translate directly into votes for Democrats. Even local Republican Senator, Curt Weldon, seems to be distancing himself from the President's Iraq policies. Weldon has come up with his own troop withdrawal policy and favours "bringing our troops out." While Republicans are doing u-turns over the war, the Democrats are playing up their military credentials. They've picked candidates with military backgrounds to fight the hardest seats. Even if the Republicans manage to hold on to both Houses, it's likely that the last two years of Bush's Presidency will be the hardest.
