Manzanilla
"Manzanilla is the only wine in the world that has a salty flavour", states one local. As wine maker Javier Hidalgo explains; "It needs the special micro-climate condition you only get in Sanlucar". During the war, his family supplied Manzanilla to both Napoleon and the British. But unfortunately, Manzanilla is not as popular abroad as it is in Spain. It is classed as a sherry and; "sherry has terrible connotations", laments Hidalgo. "Young people associate it with Granny."
