Forgotten Heroes
Countless young veterans are returning from Iraq traumatized by their experiences. They feel ignored and betrayed by the army and struggle to resume their old lives.
"These things haunt you. They don't go away", states army veteran Matthew Schehl. Like Matthew, Chris Dana returned from Iraq suffering from psychological problems. But instead of offering him support; "the military gave him a dishonorable discharge". He killed himself shortly afterwards. "Chris felt betrayed", confides his brother. "It killed him." Chris's home state of Montana is fertile ground for army recruiters. "We have a list of all the students that are gonna graduate", states Sgt Gray. Kids as young as 13 are targeted; "because in a couple of years, they'll be graduating". But even in Montana, the anti-war movement is growing.
