Beirut Monologues A play about pre-menstrual syndrome, vaginas and tampons may not seem like an obvious hit in the Middle East. But Beirut's version of 'The Vagina Monologues' is pulling in the crowds.
"They laughed and said 'not in a hundred years will this get passed the censors'", recalls director Lina Khoury, describing her friends' reaction to the Vagina Monologues. Not only was the play approved, it's had a life changing affect on its audience. One woman broke off an arranged marriage after seeing it.
