Inside Ramstein
Every day, yet more wounded American soldiers arrive at Ramstein from Iraq and Afghanistan. The military hospital has treated over 43,000 patients in the past six years.
"We see a lot of injuries", states nurse Theresa Gulley. The hardest soldiers to help are those suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. "They have a hard time dealing with it", she explains. "Losing friends, buddies, can be very difficult." Gunner Shawn Latuch was injured in an IED attack. He was appointed gunner after his best friend was killed by insurgents. "A sniper got him ... He bled to death." Shawn knows it's likely he'll be posted back to Iraq after his injuries are healed. "I wouldn't like it but I'll do my job - no matter what".
