Venomous Problems

Venomous Problems David Williams job is so dangerous, one mistake can kill him. As a snake handler and research scientist, he's on a mission to save lives by making a cheap and effective antivenom.
Williams collects venom for his research, but every time he hunts a snake, he says: "you fully have to expect that this is the snake that's going to kill you". An hour after he utters these words, David is fighting for his life. He's rushed to hospital where he receives the only dose of antivenom.

In areas of Papua New Guinea snakes can "kill more people than malaria, tuberculosis and HIV AIDS". Yet, hospitals
regularly have an anti-venom shortage. With each vial costing over $2,000, hospitals simply can't afford to stock the lifesaving Australian medicines. Now a black market has formed, with doctors accused of stealing and selling antivenom, along with cures that don't even work.
