Dance for Obama
Bands prepare for Obama's inauguration
It's the dress rehearsal for Obama's inauguration parade. Over 70 music acts are going to be playing and Howard University's Showtime Marching Band have been practicing day and night for the big day.
Howard University is known for educating the African American elite and training the first black American politicians. When Obama received an honorary doctorate from the university in 2007, he proudly stated: 'it is because of these victories that a black man...can stand before you today as a candidate to be the President of the United States.' Now everyone is hoping that the new presidency will bring the change that Obama's motto promised. 'Well I hope he can make changes because there's a lot of people that need jobs, people are living on the street...things need to change, for the better.' In such a difficult economic climate and with such huge expectations, the new President will be under enormous pressure. But right now, nobody wants to think about that, it's simply time to celebrate.
