Amina's husband disappeared without a trace three years ago. Amina suspects that he was picked up by the intelligence service and has led a tireless campaign to find him. 'This has been a routine practice for the government for the last 10 years now. I had no knowledge that this was happening,' she explains. 'People are being mysteriously picked up and then there is no news about them. They are simply lost'. Along with hundreds of families, she can't think of a reason for his abduction. 'People are kept in secret houses which belong to intelligence agencies and sometimes they are tortured to force confessions out of them' reveals a human rights commissioner. Even the government admits a tragic lack of power over these Guantanamo-type prisons: 'All we can do is to periodically raise our voice'.
