Breakfast Cinema is an exciting young production company based in London. The company is dedicated to producing high quality and low budget films that reflect unusual storytelling and perspectives. In a time where film making is more accessible, but dominated by big budget features, the company has a strong mission to inspire the imagination and explore the possibility of Cinema. Breakfast Cinema was established by Abi Weaver and Daniele Rugo, in collaboration with Nicolas Sburlati (Head of Production, Paris).
This provocative film is Breakfast Cinema's first feature length documentary that set's the precedence for future films. The Olympic Side of London took 2 years in the making on an incredibly low budget and is an impressive first doc from Abi Weaver (producer, just 24 years old) and Daniele Rugo (director, 28 years old). The Olympic Side of London was developed by Abi and Daniele taking long walks around East London where they formed relationships and listened to stories getting a feeling on the streets of the East End. Iain Sinclair, award-winning British writer was interested in collaborating with these two youngsters in developing narration for the documentary and they worked closely with Iain being influenced by his expertise on the area and fictional writing. The visual style of the film sustained by patient observations to allow sounds and images to speak for themselves.
