"Dear mother, just a card to let you know of safe arrival at destination." Like echoes of the past, the voices of WW1 soldiers and their families come back to us with a haunting sadness. Composed entirely of postcards sent to and from the front during the First World War, the film reflects on the physical destruction as well as the breakdown of human relationships. "I'm afraid you will have to wait some time for a letter from me but it cannot be helped. I will try to write soon, if possible."
