The Fighter
Rio's Vila Autódromo favela was once home to 900 families - until bulldozers arrived in the name of Olympic development. This report uncovers the reality of the Games for those fighting to keep their homes and their community alive.
12-year-old Naomy is tormented by the destruction of her neighbourhood. "Every wall that falls down contains a piece of your life", she says, explaining that her father built their house with his own hands. The remaining residents are determined to take on the government: "We're fighting to stay here", Naomy asserts. "Giving up has never entered my mind."
