From drinking games and sex talk to jigsaws and tea. Care homes in the Netherlands have come up with an innovative solution to the housing crisis and the isolation of the elderly: the young and old living together.
The Humanitas care home in Deventer is offering students free accommodation in return for 30 hours a month spent with their older neighbours. Designated as "good neighbours", the students spend time chatting with their new friends. "It's just like a high school", says Jurrien Mentik, as he discusses his newest girlfriend with Joke van Beek, an older resident of the home.
