Bikers For Peace
Iraq's first biker gang are setting out to heal sectarian divisions amongst their fellow countrymen
The Iraq Bikers are the nation's first motorcycle club, set up to promote unity across the country. As uncertainty continues to rock Iraq, this multi-faith club is providing much needed hope.
"We have all suffered in this war, we are all touched by it". In a country that has been at war since the 1990's, it is unsurprising that anger and resentment are widespread. Bilal leads the club, made up of Sunnis, Shias and Christians, and is determined to use it as a force for good. He "wants to look forwards not backwards- for an Iraq free of terror". But tensions in refugee camps still continue to simmer. With IS sympathisers and those who have been victimised by IS forced to live alongside each other, it is clear that Iraq is far from united. Whilst Iraq waits to see if the war against IS is genuinely finished, the Iraq Bikers continue to foster peace across their country.
