There are millions being made in the Australian marijuana business, but these entrepreneurs aren’t risking jail to make their fortunes. They’re betting big on the home-grown medicinal marijuana industry and riding the ‘pot stock’ boom, where the potential for a whole range of possible products abounds. But with patients struggling to access cannabis products, who is making money out of the marijuana boom?
"I was heavily involved in the dot com boom. I never thought I’d see another boom like it but this green rush is simply remarkable", says cannabis investor Ross Smith. "It's a multi-billion dollar market for sure", says AusCann founder Harry Karelis. But many are wary of lingering state and federal rules. "There are huge barriers that need to be overcome before patients actually have access to medicinal cannabis in Australia", says Dr. Bastian Seidel.
