Though it may seem like an innocuous material, concrete is responsible for 8% of carbon emissions worldwide. How can this vital building material become more green?
LafargeHolcim is one of the biggest concrete manufacturers. They're aiming for net zero - but the industry is 'not exactly eager to change', says Director of Technology Deployment, Devin Patten. A bill passed by The New York State Assembly will give funding preference to lower carbon concrete. 'We’re not going to meet carbon goals unless we do things like this', says assemblyman Robert Carroll.
