Beer Capital
Belgium boasts a bewildering banquet of beers
One of Europe's smallest nations has more than 300 locally produced beers - and 27,000 bars serving them. While most of the world has wine writers, Belgium has beer writers. Danny Verheyden is one of them. "Do you know what the Belgians say when they have a strong beer? Well, they say let's have a second one, because you cannot stand on one leg". We meet him in a bar where the choice is easy, because the only beer served is their own. With an alcohol content of 11 %, it is "the strongest beer in the world" and customers are strictly limited to three glasses only. However, experts say the best beer is made by Belgian monks. They don't drink it themselves, since it is very strong. Instead they use the money to build churches.
