Georgia seeks to impeach president over EU visits
The war in Ukraine has had an unsettling impact on Russia’s neighbouring country, Georgia. Georgians are increasingly seeing the Ukraine war as a litmus test for their own precarious relationship with Russia.
Many Georgians believe that Russia is secretly extending the boundaries of separatist Russian-backed territories. Activist David Katsaravao monitors the position of the border, "because our government is very much pro-Russian." Meanwhile trust in the country's biggest oligarch, Bidzina Ivanishvili, is at an all-time low. Eka Gigauri thinks that Ivanishvili “might take particular decisions in the interest of Russia."
