From retirement to activism: The pensioner resisting evictions in Spain
The effects of the increased cost of living are being felt across Europe. For the first time, Spanish pensioners are unable to afford their gas and electricity bills, and are taking to the streets to show their anger.
"Now I don't have a good pension, and now we're being threatened with eviction" says Antonio, who's facing a 40% increase in rent. At a Tenants Union he joins other Spanish pensioners facing similar crises, and voicing their concerns. "We're made up of 200 to 250 people who are Blackstone tenants. We have a real bombshell" says Pablo.
