#Cancer

#Cancer A cancer diagnosis is not only a shocking, severe experience, but a potentially very isolating one. RTS meets young people affected by cancer who are turning to creative means of expression, and social media, to remedy their pain.
“When I was diagnosed, I looked up #breastcancer, and found hardly any young people talking about it”. For 36 year old Zrinka, the lack of representation was isolating - so she turned to social media, documenting every chemo session: “Whatever I put into it no longer felt like a part of me. It wasn't inside me anymore; it was out”. Vincent de Vevey uses art to deal with his colon cancer, allowing him to visually represent pain. Dr Pierre-Francois Simand notes the shift: “The older generation didn’t want to show their illness… There’s something incredibly liberating about expressing your feelings and sharing your situation”.
