A straight story about a queer family

Fatherhood Kristopher, David and Sindre live in a multi-partner relationship, expecting their first child. Kristopher was born a woman and today identifies as a homosexual man. As the birth father he will be the first in Norway. The pregnancy is a small miracle, after enduring forced sterilisation at 18 in order to legally change gender. This beautifully sensitive doc charts their journey from pregnancy to the beginnings of a new family life.

The Producers


Even G Benestad – Director

Even G. Benestad made his directorial debut with the film Alt om min far (2001). The film screened at over 100 film festivals around the world, premiering at the Berlinale, and won several awards. Since then, he has directed acclaimed films such as Natural Born Star (2007), Pushwagner (2011) and Club 7 (2012). The latter two he co-directed with August Baugstø Hanssen in Indie Film. 2013-17 he spent as a documentary consultant at NFI before finding his way back to Indie Film in the fall of 2017. In 2020, his short documentary Jorden er en Chilli (2020) was screened at the Children's Film Festival in Kristiansand, and he was creative producer on the Amanda winner Young & Afraid (2021).


Carsten Aanonsen – Producer

Carsten Aanonsen is CEO and founder of Indie Film. He has been involved in the production of more than 200 titles, including feature documentaries, TV-series, commercials and commissioned films since the beginning of his career. Carsten received the Red Cross Humanitarian Award in 2004, he is a 2006 EAVE graduate.




August B. Hanssen – Director

August Baugstø Hanssen made his directorial debut with the celebrated feature documentary Pushwagner co-directed with long-time creative partner Even G. Benestad (All About My Father (2002) & Natural Born Star (2011)). The two went on to co-direct the experimental short Club 7 (2013) which was nominated to Amanda for best documentary short. In 2014 he directed Ida’s Diary which premiered at IDFA the same year. As a producer he has worked on My Heart Belongs to Daddy (2018), Munch in Hell (2018), I Want to Live in My Name (2018), The Earth is a Chili (2022) and Ex Nihilo (2023).
