Nose Jobs
Cosmetic surgery takes off in Iran
The ultimate western extravagance; cosmetic surgery is taking hold in Iran. It is the latest teenage craze on the streets of Tehran, the post nose-op plaster being worn as a badge of pride.
We follow 18 year old Aida under the surgeons hammer and chisel as her conk
is cracked and re-shaped. Her father helps to stump up the $3,000. It's seen
as a good investment, since fortune still largely depends on marriage in
Iran. However, Aida gasps in horror when her bandages are removed and her
newly westernized nose is revealed. In some ways it seems that an inflexible
concept of western beauty is replacing traditional dogma in Iran.
