Snake Medicine

How snake venom can save lives

Snake Medicine Snakes may inspire fear and loathing, but in the venom of their deadly bite is a cocktail of clot-busting chemicals that can rescue people from strokes and heart attacks.
One South Texan facility houses over 350 venomous snakes. A bite from any one could be fatal, but they are there for a reason. One snake catcher, despite being bitten not exactly infrequently, believes the work important enough to continue capturing snakes in the name of medicine.
