Bali's Turtle Nursery

Changing attitudes to protect Bali's turtles

Bali's Turtle Nursery Bali's turtle population is dwindling, in part due to the Hindu practice of sacrifice. Therefore human conservation and ecology projects are ever more crucial to their survival.
The capture and sale of turtles is largely unregulated on Bali, and populations are suffering as a result. WWF is working to change attitudes towards these important reptiles, which form an integral part of the ecosystem. To supplement the population, turtles are also being hatched and released into the sea, giving the juveniles a head-start in life.
