War On Speed
Japan Confronts North Korea's Illegal Drug Trade
Cash-strapped North Korea has found a lucrative new export - illegal drugs. And it's treating all attempts to stop them as military provocation.
In workaholic Japan, the need for amphetamines is greater than ever. Drug use has increased dramatically with the purest drugs originating from North Korea. In fact, drugs are proving to be the country's most lucrative export with seizures currently amounting to $1.5 billion. The North Koreans collaborate with the Japanese mafia to maximise profits. Ships have been modified to enable them to travel at high speeds for drugs runs. But this revenue is under threat. The US and other countries have started simulating military raids to intercept vessels suspected of containing WMDs and other illicit cargo.
