While 70 hungry children play by the beach, Professor Ruivo cooks their lunch. But he's not barbecuing the food. He's testing out his latest solar power cooker. "I'm a fanatic of solar cooking". From powering energy stations with rubbish to building the world's largest solar farm and first commercial wavefarm, Portugal is blazing a trail in renewable technologies. As well as saving the environment, the hope is this technology will give it a competitive advantage. "By pushing renewable energies you create new economic advantage", states Dr Barreto.
