Rose of Tralee
The town of Tralee has hosted an annual international pageant to find the Rose of Tralee - a young, beautiful and talented woman with an Irish background. Who will win the crown?
The pageant based on a19th century ballad, praises the special qualities of womanhood. This year the contestants range from a Shakespearean actor from Philadelphia and a police officer from Perth. "They are nice girls next door" says broadcaster Ryan Tubridy, "the kind of girls that mammy's would want their sons to meet." The climax of the contest is a marathon two day televised "talent" show where the girls get to show off their sometimes bizarre party pieces
