Child Labour

The young Indian labourers losing their childhood

Child Labour 153 million child labourers live in Asia - this is the story of those employed in making matches and fireworks.
They work in the carpet industry, in agriculture, in households and factories: 250 million children between the age of 5-14 work according to the International Labour Organisation in Geneva. In southern India the match and fireworks industries are based at home. It’s becoming more difficult to film. The owners forbid entry or quickly send the children away when a film team arrives. It is illegal to employ children under the age of 15 but despite this hundreds of thousands are working. The law is not worth the paper it’s written on.
