Pittsburg’s Jewish community is still healing one year after a mass shooting that killed eleven people. Tree of Life synagogue continue to come to terms with the hate crimes plaguing American society.
"We have been unwillingly and forcibly inducted into a club no one wants to belong to", says synagogue board member Laurie Eisenberg. She has noted the solidarity between her fellow congregants and students affected by the Parkland school shooting just six months earlier. But overcoming this collective grief will not be easy, as Tree of Life member Stephen Cohen explains: "How do you think about your future when you have a past hanging over you?"
