La Dolce Vita
Meet the Italians actively slowing down cities
As the world speeds up, Italians are actively slowing down. They are resisting the trends of globalisation that they believe have made many cities near-uninhabitable metropolises.
Movements called "slow food" and "slow cities" keep small towns like Montefalco in Umbria void of traffic, large supermarkets and McDonalds, while promoting local produce and tradition. "Where there's still a genuine quality of life we want it to stop it falling victim of globalisation of economics and culture."
