Corruption cripples South Africa's schools
Teachers in South Africa's Eastern Cape have been deprived pensions and administrators have not been paid since 1999. The Government stands accused of corruption and ineptitude.
The sacking of Modidima Mannya, the anti-corruption official drafted in to sort the problem out, has stoked anger across the region. Making sure that money is not siphoned off by the undeserving yet powerful is a near-insurmountable task.
