Doing it for Allah
It's not the first time the provision of aid by extremists has posed a moral dilemma. This report on the help from a militant Islamic group after the earthquake in Pakistan, provides a context for any report on the debate.
"The first people who came to help were Jamaat-ud-Dawa", states one grateful survivor. But Jamaat-ud-Dawa was formally known as the terrorist group Laskhar-e-Taiba. "All they've done is change their name", complains analyst Samina Ahmed. Support for extremists in the earthquake zone has never been strong. There's concern Laskhar-e-Taiba are exploiting the tragedy to boost their popularity.
