Lebanon: A Web of Corruption
Lebanon's economy is on life support
After the explosion in the Port of Beirut and the fall of several governments, Lebanon’s economy is on life support. At the heart of its financial troubles is deep corruption, with those in power lining their pockets while leaving the nation literally in the dark, as power blackouts result from shady oil deals. Meanwhile, dangerous chemical pollutants from energy plants are allowed to fill the nation's lungs, putting lives at risk.
