Lebanon is currently in the midst of one of the worst economic crises in world history. Meanwhile, its healthcare system is faltering - with the country's largest public hospital facing resource shortages.
While grappling with economic crisis, Lebanon is also facing a healthcare crisis. In Beirut's largest public hospital, power outages and medical supply shortages have become the norm: 'The mortality and the morbidity is affected now', explains nurse Roula Itani. 'We often collected among the staff to help patients. But the staff can no longer help with money. We also need to help ourselves', says nurse Zaher Kaiss.
