Iraqi Insurgent Video
Since the beginning of the war, 2500 highly trained and well equipped American soldiers have been killed in Iraq. As Sydney journalist Paul McGeough tried to contact insurgents, he was given a video CD featuring gruesome sequences of soldiers getting shot, roadside bombings, bodies of so-called martyrs who died for the cause and badly mutilated dead Americans. We also hear the chilling words of a sniper who refers to the ennemy as 'donkeys':'I swear to God', he says, 'I shot twelve bullets at an American camp and only three bullets missed. With the other nine bullets, I killed a donkey.'
Paul McGeough's conclusion after watching the video is short and simple: 'If they can make homemade weapons, if they can move around with the ease that they do, if they show as blatantly as they do that they can get the wherewithal to mascarade as members of the Iraqi security forces, you got a problem as a counter-insurgent.'
