Devils Breath
Criminals are using a dangerous drug that can strip people of their free will
'On the streets, they call it Devils Breath because it steals your soul'. In Bogotá, Colombia, this documentary investigates what is perhaps the most dangerous drug in existence.
The drug Scopolamine renders a person incapable of exercising free-will while remaining conscious, articulate and seemingly aware of the actions they're taking. It has been used since the indigenous people of Bogotá lured the wives and mistresses of a dead chiefdom into a grave only to be buried alive. Victims talk of unknowingly handing over all their possessions, date-rape and in extreme cases death. Found on the Borrachero tree, loosely translated as 'drunken binge' tree, the flower produced can be described much like Colombia- incredibly beautiful but potentially highly lethal.
