One Hundred Schools
India's constitution grants every child free education
In 2010, India amended their constitution to grant every child free education. However, many public schools are underfunded, leaving a problem of educational quality for India’s youth.
Amar Dhull was inspired to set up CharityWorld to level up educational opportunities across India, opening the I.B. School in Rohtak. ‘Every child should be entitled to have the very basic facilities or infrastructure in a school’, says Amar. But this vision is challenged by underfunding and uneven access. ‘The parents of the children are illiterate. They do not pay much attention to education’, says Jindra Devi, headmistress of Elementary School Ajaib, a school supported by CharityWorld. The schools are making a tangible difference. ‘Since I joined I.B. School I've gained a lot of confidence because it is a big platform to express yourself’, says Vanshika, a student in Rohtak.
