Desert Exiles
The forgotten refugees of Western Sahara
The Sahrawi have lived as refugees in the southern Sahara since 1975, when they fled the Moroccan invasion of Western Sahara.
Families have been separated and thousands are totally reliant on foreign aid for survival. Tired of waiting for a repeatedly postponed UN referendum, these forgotten exiles threaten to take up arms again.
